Legends Tour players took on one of the strongest fields in senior golf at the U.S. Senior Open Championship, with several producing standout performances on one of the game’s biggest stages.
Scioto Country Club in Ohio is a classic Donald Ross design and the course where Jack Nicklaus learned the game. It is a traditional test that places a premium on accurate approach play and smart course management.
Marbella champion Jamie Donaldson closed with a 68 to finish tied fifth, the best senior Major result of his career. It was all the more impressive because the 2014 Ryder Cup hero earned his place through local and final qualifying, and his top-15 finish secures an exemption into next year’s championship. Miguel Ángel Jiménez added another Major top 10 in a tie for eighth, while Simon Griffiths made a hole-in-one at the 17th on Thursday. Padraig Harrington successfully defended his title on -12.
