Hugo holds firm for Maiden Title in Beijing

Jean Hugo held his nerve in testing conditions to win the Reignwood Legends Championship at Reignwood Pine Valley, claiming his first Staysure Legends Tour title in just his fifth appearance on Tour.

Reignwood Pine Valley proved a stern examination all week, with firm, fast surfaces making the pins difficult to attack and patience at a premium for the entire field. The challenge stiffened further on the final day as gusts of up to 40mph swept across the course.

Leading by one overnight, Hugo was briefly pegged back early on Sunday before a birdie at the par-five 8th sparked a two-shot swing that put him back in front. He never looked back, grinding out pars through the back nine to close with a 71 and finish on 13-under-par, three shots clear.

The victory caps a remarkable turnaround for Hugo, who narrowly missed out on full playing rights after finishing fifth at Qualifying School earlier this year. His breakthrough in China now secures his place on the Staysure Legends Tour until the end of 2027.
