Legends Stars Make Their Mark In Vilamoura

The inaugural Portugal Invitational brought a world-class field to the Algarve, with Legends Tour stars Padraig Harrington, Bernhard Langer and Miguel Ángel Jiménez teeing it up alongside Major champions and Ryder Cup legends. It was the first time PGA TOUR Champions had come to Portugal, making it a landmark week for golf in the region.

The Els Club Vilamoura is a redesign by tournament host Ernie Els of the former Victoria Golf Course, which staged the Portugal Masters from 2007 to 2022. Players were full of praise for the immaculate greens and the championship conditions.

Zach Johnson closed with a bogey-free 65 to overturn a one-shot deficit and claim the title, winning by two from Stewart Cink on 19-under. The Legends Tour contingent showed plenty of strength against the international field. Harrington finished third on -15, while Jiménez closed with a 67 to share fifth on -12 alongside Sweden’s Mikael Lundberg. Irish Legends champion Johan Edfors, who earned his place with his win at Carton House, finished inside the top 30. Langer and Jamie Donaldson also ended the week comfortably under par.
