Mikael was introduced to golf by his father Lars, a four handicapper. He got down to scratch by the age of 17, played for Sweden’s Boys side in 1988 and made the full national team three years later.
He then spent a year at junior college in Alabama between 1993 and 1994 where he made steady progress over the first five years of his professional career, but first
qualified for the European Tour through the Challenge Tour in 2000.
The Swede is a three-time winner on the DP World Tour having claimed the Russian Open in 2005 and 2008, while his most recent victory came at the 2014 Lyoness Open in Austria. He has also won three times on the Challenge Tour.
