Born in the Austrian capital, Vienna, Markus enjoyed a good amateur career before venturing onto the European Tour. He represented Austria four times in the Eisenhower Trophy, the World Amateur Team Championship, won the Swiss and German Austrian Opens before winning twice on the European Tour.

His arrival on the European Tour was thanks to finishing third on the Challenge Tour money list, following six top ten and three top five finishes.

His European Tour victories came on home soil at the Austrian Open in 2006 and the China Open in 2007. He had previously won his home event twice, then on the Challenge Tour, so he now has a hat-trick of Austrian titles.

Markus’ best Order of Merit finish was 49th and he reached the top 100 in the world golf rankings in 2007 at number 91. He was the first Austrian to ever win a European Tour title.

Although his success took a little time and he was a slow starter, he is thoroughly enjoying life on the Senior Tour and has played consistent golf always making him one of the Legends to watch. Join Markus in the Pro Am, or the 3-Day Alliance format to truly see how a pro ticks in tournament golf.
