The Englishman won six times on the DP World Tour, all coming between 1991 and 1994, he also finished in the top ten of the Order of Merit in ’91 and ’94.
His best finish on the Order of Merit was seventh, in 1994, the year he won his biggest prize on the European Tour, the European Open at East Sussex National.
Gilford was on the European Ryder Cup teams
in 1991 at Kiawah Island and then 1995 at Oak Hill where Gilford won 3 out of his 4 points and was Europe’s joint-top points scorer.
He represented England in the World Cup of Golf in 1992 and 1993 and won the English Amateur Championship in 1984.
