Dan Walker is a television presenter, newsreader, sports commentator, and English journalist most commonly known for presenting Football Focus, BBC Breakfast, BBC Radio 5 and Match of the Day. He turned down the chance to play youth team football and pursued a career in journalism, becoming an accomplished and well renowned figure on television and radio. In 2021 he took part in the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing series.
 
Walker began his career in professional broadcasting on local commercial radio, making a name for himself as match day commentator for Manchester’s Key 103K station before making his first appearance as a TV presenter for Granada TV, covering league football. After his time with Granada TV Walker embarked on his career with the BBC, initially joining the local news team as the lead sports reporter for North West Tonight. He then became an integral part of the Match of the Day team and co-hosted 5 Lives’ Afternoon Edition. With the BBC he has reported on some of the biggest sporting events in the UK including, Wimbledon, Aintree, Royal Ascot, The Derby and the Rugby 6 Nations. He was also a co-host of the BBC’s 2012 and 2021 Olympics coverage and the BBC’s 2010 and 2014 World Cup broadcasts.
