The six-time Major winner leads a list of stellar names who will be at the event.
Players already confirmed include Masters champion Ian Woosnam, US Open champion Michael Campbell as well as Ryder Cup players and Tour winners Costantino Rocca and Jean Van de Velde.
The event will be staged on the Jack Nicklaus signature design Pacifico Golf Course at Punta Mita as both resort and golf course celebrate their 25th anniversary. The par-72 course opened in 1999 and has seven holes directly facing or playing alongside the Pacific Ocean, with generous fairways and greens. Pacifico Golf Course is best known for its famous hole “The Tail of the Whale” the world’s only natural ocean island green.
Punta Mita is a 1,500-acre luxury resort located on a spear-shaped peninsular, surrounded by white-sand beaches in the Riviera Nayarit, north of Puerto Vallarta. It is home to two Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Courses and features private villas and residences as well as the two five-diamond rated resorts.
64 amateurs will compete in the event across three days as part of the Alliance Series.
The tournament has been organised by VDV (Partners) Internacional Golf Manejo, lead by Jean Van de Velde who said: “We are delighted to host the WCM Mexico Senior Open at such a prestigious location. Punta Mita is recognized as a leading golf community globally, and Nayarit is celebrated as a top luxury destination in Mexico, making it a natural fit for the tournament.”
Carl Emberson, Punta Mita’s Director of Operations acknowledged what a proud moment this is for the resort: “Hosting the WCM Mexico Senior Open event at our award-winning Pacifico Golf Course during a milestone year at Punta Mita is a testament to our standing as a top luxury destination in the Americas.
“To bring this calibre of world-class players to compete at our picturesque setting will further establish Punta Mita as one of the world’s greatest luxury golf destinations.”
