It is a first return to the Kilkenny course for the over 50’s Tour since 1999, when John Morgan was victorious in the Irish Seniors Open on the European Seniors Tour – before it became the Legends Tour.

The championship course at Mount Juliet Estate was designed by Jack Nicklaus and stretches up to 7,200 yards across 180 acres of land. The course provides players with plenty of challenges to avoid with five lakes, which come into play on six holes, and 80 bunkers which are strategically placed around the course.

The Legends Tour has stopped off at Seapoint Golf Links in County Louth for the last two years, where Adilson Da Silva was crowned champion of the 2024 OFX Irish Legends less than two weeks ago. He eventually claimed the 6th win of his Legends Tour career after a nail-biting play-off against Patrik Sjöland, with a birdie on the third extra hole.

Da Silva will defend his title at Mount Juliet next year in what’s set to be another thrilling week in Irish golf as the event now moves to the Championship course in Kilkenny which is renowned for hosting the 2021 Dubai Duty-Free Irish Open, the 2022 Horizon Irish Open as well as earlier editions of that same event in 1993, 1994 and 1995.

Phil Harrison – CEO Legends Tour said “We are thrilled to be heading to such an iconic venue as Mount Juliet in 2025 for the OFX Irish Legends. It is truly one of the greatest parkland golf courses in the world and we could not be prouder to be taking a Legends Tour event there. Our members will love playing the course and it will provide a stunning backdrop to what is sure to be a special week on the 2025 Legends Tour schedule.

“Ireland has become one of the core destinations in our calendar of events and one which I know the players look out for. I am happy that we are continuing our association with the Emerald Isle as well as our partnership with OFX as the headline sponsor of the tournament too.”

On the announcement, Mr. Mark Dunne, General Manager of Mount Juliet Estate said: “We are thrilled to announce that the Legends Tour 2025 will be held at Mount Juliet Estate. This prestigious event marks our debut in hosting the competition, and we are excited to welcome some of the world’s finest golfers to our estate. Hosting the Legends Tour is a testament to the excellence of the golf experience at Mount Juliet Estate. It is an honour to welcome the Tour to our Estate. Celebrating 34 years of golf at Mount Juliet Estate in 2025, the Legends Tour will be a fitting tribute to our rich golfing heritage.”

Mr. Matt Sandercock (PGA Fellow), Director of Golf at Mount Juliet Estate said: “Mount Juliet Estate is a proven Tournament host venue, having staged five Irish Open’s, two World Golf Championships and a Shell’s Wonderful World of Golf in its earlier days. We are absolutely delighted to be hosting our first Legends Tour event in May. The team and I are really looking forward to welcoming legends of the game and past heroes to our Jack Nicklaus Signature Design Course, which will prove an enjoyable and challenging test for all, particularly for those making their first visit to the course.”
