10th year anniversary celebrations
The MCB Tour Championship has been a crucial part of the Legends Tour schedule over the years with the first event coming in December 2011 in which American Tom Lehman was victorious after defeating David Frost in the final round to lift the trophy. Since then, the tournament has seen the likes of 31 time European Tour winner Colin Montgomerie lift the Mauritian title along with Sweden’s Jarmo Sandelin winning in the latest edition in 2019, claiming his maiden over 50s title.
A stellar field
This year there will be many a Legend competing for the MCB Tour Championship title including 2005 U.S. Open Champion Michael Campbell, 1999 Open Champion Paul Lawrie and two-time Senior Major Champion Roger Chapman.
Also joining the field will be five-time Legends Tour winner Clark Dennis who previously won the MCB Tour Championship – Mauritius in 2018. Along with winners from the 2021 season including Austria’s Markus Brier, Mauricio Molina of Argentina, and South Africa’s Chris Williams.
All to play for in the Legends Tour Order of Merit
The Legends Tour Order of Merit is all to play for in Mauritius with four players well within contention to claim top spot; with Welshman and The Senior Open presented by Rolex winner Stephen Dodd in top spot on 1830 points, closely followed by Frenchman Thomas Levet in second place on 1435 points, Markus Brier in third place on 1379 points and on 1323 points in fourth place is James Kingston of South Africa.
Celebrity Series Grand Final
The Celebrity Series Grand final will take place on March 29 at Constance Belle Mare Plage, Mauritius teeing off an exhilarating week of golf featuring eight of the biggest celebrity personalities from sports, entertainment and media. The winners from the three qualifying events and the highest ranked available celebrities on the Order of Merit will all travel to the Indian Ocean to compete for a prize fund of £100,000 for their chosen charities, with the winner receiving £25,000.
