Europe’s Senior Major Championship will visit the Perthshire venue for the first time next month and, with a view to having a positive impact in the local community, will hold the inaugural Senior Open 5K.

The European Tour Group, The R&A, Gleneagles, Visit Scotland, and Perth and Kinross Council are committed to raising awareness of the health benefits of golf and by encouraging people to attend The Senior Open 5K, are highlighting the positive impact of exercise on both physical and mental health.

The Senior Open 5K will see participants complete a five kilometre circuit around the perimeter of Gleneagles which includes stunning scenery overlooking the King’s Course which will hole some of the best golfers the following and the best thing is, no running ability is required. Whether you are a seasoned runner, or a casual walker, the Senior Open 5K is designed to encourage activity rather than competition and anyone over the age of 11 years old is welcome to run or walk the circuit,

Anyone who completes The Senior Open 5K will be receive a discount for tickets for The Senior Open Presented by Rolex, at the finish line which takes place from July 21-24, 2022.

Some of the biggest names in over-50s golf will tee it up in Perthshire, including Ryder Cup Captains Thomas Bjørn, Jim Furyk, Colin Montgomerie and Paul McGinley, former Champion Golfers of the Year Padraig Harrington, Paul Lawrie, Darren Clarke and Ernie Els, and Masters Champions Ian Woosnam and Jose Maria Olazábal.
