Daly has had many memorable moments in Europe over the years including winning the 1995 Open Championship by beating Costantino Rocca in a four-hole playoff and also winning the 1991 PGA Championship and the 2001 BMW International Open.
“I love it,” he said. “I’ve always loved coming over here playing in a lot of the European Tour tournaments the guys are so great kind of a little more laid back than our Tours but it’s just a blast to come and see the world and see the different side of things and I’ve always loved coming over here the people are so great.
“It’s great I mean it’s fun to try something new and come to a place like this where the staff are unbelievable.”
Daly is impressed with the course setup at JCB Golf & Country Club and expresses how it is a great opportunity for any amateur to play alongside some of golfs greats on the Legends Tour.
“If the wind blows these greens are pretty undulated but it’s in great shape hats off to the staff what a great place it’s unbelievable.
“This format is great to be able to be side-by-side with your amateurs all day and tell a few jokes have some fun and make some birdies.”
The format for the week consists of the Celebrity Series on the Thursday featuring personalities from sports, media and business including former Chelsea Football Club player Gianfranco Zola, LPGA Tour and LET player Christina Kim and former England cricketer Andrew Strauss.
Daly joins many legends in the field this week including Ernie Els, Darren Clarke, Colin Montgomerie, Vijay Singh, Paul Lawrie and José María Olazábal.
The action gets underway at 8:00am local time with Daly teeing it up alongside Colin Montgomerie and Paul McGinley at 11:28am.
