The Staysure Legends Tour welcomed players, media, partners and special guests to Chart Hills Golf Club as preparations continue for this summer’s English Legends tournament, taking place from August 28th – 30th.
Among those attending were former Ryder Cup player, BMW PGA Championship winner and Sky Sports Golf presenter David Howell and two-time HotelPlanner Tour winner Benn Barham, who will be hosting the Pro-Am during the tournament week.
Hosted by Staysure Legends Tour presenter and former LET player Amy Boulden, the media day offered a preview of what fans can expect when the English Legends arrives at Chart Hills this August. With a world-class field, unique amateur playing experiences and one of England’s most distinctive championship venues, the event showcased many of the elements that continue to drive the growth of the Staysure Legends Tour.
Howell, a two-time Ryder Cup player, said: “Chart Hills is a fantastic venue and a wonderful test of golf. Fans will be able to get closer to the action than they can at almost any other professional sporting event, while watching some of the game’s most recognisable names compete. It’s going to be a brilliant week and I’d urge people to come down and enjoy a great family day out – and the best bit is that tickets are free.”
“I’m as happy as anywhere in the world when I’m at a Staysure Legends Tour event. You’re surrounded by players you’ve known for decades, the competitive spirit is still there and there’s a real sense of camaraderie that makes it a wonderful place to be.”
Located in the heart of Kent, Chart Hills is recognised as one of England’s leading golf venues. Designed by Sir Nick Faldo, the course is renowned for memorable holes including the famous ‘Anaconda’ par-5 5th and the island-green par-3 17th, and will host the English Legends for the first time this August – with spectators able to watch the action for free, register your interest here to attend.
Few people know the venue better than English Legends Pro-Am host Benn Barham, who worked at Chart Hills as a young professional before going on to become a two-time HotelPlanner Tour winner and now respected coach.
Barham said: “Chart Hills has played a huge role in my golfing journey. I worked here as a young man, won the Kent Amateur Championship here in 1996 and used the course every day to help develop my game. To now be involved in bringing the English Legends to the venue is a real full-circle moment for me. The course is a fantastic test and I know the Staysure Legends Tour players are going to love the challenge it provides.”
The tournament is expected to attract a world-class field featuring Ryder Cup players, Major champions and Tour winners, including Paul McGinley, Paul Lawrie, Michael Campbell, Simon Khan, Greg Owen, Stephen Gallacher, Jamie Donaldson and Phillip Price.
Defending champion Steve Webster is expected to return to the English Legends this summer after securing a memorable maiden Staysure Legends Tour victory at Brocket Hall in 2025. The Englishman held off a strong field to claim a two-shot victory and lift the trophy on home soil.
A defining feature of the English Legends is the opportunity it offers amateur golfers to play alongside Ryder Cup legends, Major champions and Tour winners through the Pro-Am and Legends Experience programmes, creating an experience unlike any other in professional sport.
“Playing in a Staysure Legends Tour event is the greatest amateur experience in golf,” said Howell. “You’re not just watching from the ropes, you’re inside the tournament, sharing fairways, conversations and experiences with some of the biggest names in the game – all while playing your own ball.”
Free spectator tickets are available for all three tournament days, with advance registration required via the Staysure Legends Tour website. For more information on playing experiences, click here.
