Chapman became the first European to win both the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship and U.S. Senior Open in the same season, becoming a two-time Senior Major Champion.
The Englishman is very much looking forward to the tournament at Formby Golf Club but admits that the Celebrity Series day and the amateur experience that is on offer on the Legends Tour is an experience like no other.
“With the Celebrity Series you’re getting to play with a pro and a celebrity, and you’ve got two guys in the four ball so I think just playing with us two guys would be a good experience,” Chapman said.
“Then we look at the alliance you’re actually playing in a golf tournament that we are trying to earn a living at and I don’t think any other sport has that, you can’t go and do that with the England team at Wembley or West Ham at the London Stadium, you can’t go to the Lords and play with Andrew Strauss so it’s a unique experience and one that all the amateurs absolutely love you see them coming off the course, they are all talking about it and enjoying it!”
Chapman, who was playing alongside English actor Trevor Eve was very much looking forward to the day ahead and the challenge that Formby can bring.
“I am very much looking forward to today the celebrity pro-am,” he said. “I’m playing with Trevor Eve so looking forward to it.”
“It’s good fun this is the first sort of actor I’ve played with in the series, I’ve been playing with sportsmen and footballers and rugby players, I played with Scott Quinnell last week, I had an absolute blast with him he’s brilliant it’s a great series, I think the celebrities have a lot of fun.”
Also, in the field this week is former Ryder Cup Captain Paul McGinley, 2021 Senior Open presented by Rolex winner Stephen Dodd and 1999 Open Championship winner Paul Lawrie.
The action will get underway at 7:30am local time with Chapman teeing it up alongside fellow Englishman Paul Streeter at 11:00am.
