Some of the biggest names in the world of sport and entertainment will take to the English links on Wednesday and their Legends Tour playing partners have now been confirmed.
Spain’s Santiago Luna will play in the first group of the inaugural Celebrity Series event alongside 2003 Rugby World Cup winner Will Greenwood at 9:00am, followed by Sweden’s Magnus P. Atlevi who will be joined by sports journalist Chris Hollins.
Legends Tour Order of Merit leader Alex Cejka will tee it up alongside ex-Liverpool football Neil Mellor, while Frenchman Jean van de Velde, TV presenter and Celebrity Series ambassador Georgie Bingham and will get their round under way at 9:33am.
Farmfoods European Legends Links Champion Chris Williams, ex-cricketer Darren Gough and former Everton footballer Alan Stubbs are paired together, Joakim Haeggman will be joined by football legend and King of the Jungle Harry Redknapp and Barry Lane will spend the day alongside former Boyzone singer Keith Duffy.
Paul Lawrie, the 1999 Champion Golfer of the Year, will tee it up alongside fellow Scot and ex-Liverpool footballer Alan Hansen, while Formby Golf Club member and ex-snooker player John Parrott will play alongside America’s Clark Dennis.
David Shacklady and ex-footballer Neil ‘Razor’ Ruddock will tee off at 10:39am, followed by Peter Baker and former swimmer Mark Foster at 10:54am. South Africa’s James Kingston and ex-England cricketer Allan Lamb will get under way in the next group, followed by Paul Eales and Sir Andrew Strauss.
Former Westlife star Brian McFadden will join former footballer and commentator Alan McInally and France’s Marc Farry on the tee at 11:32am, followed by Senior Open Presented by Rolex champion Stephen Dodd, former Liverpool and England legend Robbie Fowler, and TV personality Dom Joly.
Former Scotland international and British & Irish Lions star Gavin Hastings will tee it up alongside Roger Chapman at 12:05pm, followed by England’s Phil Golding, ex-Liverpool stalwart Ronnie Whelan and TV presenter Vernon Kay in the following group.
Australian Peter Fowler’s group will consist of TV presenter and Celebrity Series ambassador Dan Walker and former Liverpool and Republic of Ireland international Jason McAteer at 12:27pm.
Two-time Senior Major Champion Paul Broadhurst tee it up alongside one of England’s all-time greatest cricketers Lord Ian Botham, followed by the group of Wales’ Phillip Price and Strictly Come Dancing star Anton du Beke.
Seven-time Ryder Cup player and 1999 Team Europe Captain Mark James will play with former snooker world champion Stephen Hendry. The penultimate group of the day will see 2014 Ryder Cup Captain Paul McGinley joined by 20-time Champion Jockey and Celebrity Ambassador Sir AP McCoy and comedian Stan Boardman.
Former World Number One and 1991 Masters Champion Ian Woosnam will form the final group of the day at 1:26pm. He will be joined on the tee by former World Champion boxer Tony Bellew and Legends Tour Group CEO Ryan Howsam.
Tickets can be purchased in advance or on the day, beginning at £10 for the Celebrity Series Pro-Am, increasing to £15 for adults and £10 for concessions (over 50s) for each day of the tournament. Under 16s will be admitted free of charge and car parking is priced at £5 per car. Spectators who intend to drive to the event must park at Formby Hall (L37 0AB) where there will be a park and ride service. Spectators without advance parking tickets can purchase their car parking pass and entrance tickets on arrival at the welcome pavilion at Formby Golf Club.
