Racking up a half century of years opens up the opportunity to play on the Legends Tour, providing a new level of competition against their peers and the continued chance to win titles.

2024 sees a new selection of players becoming “seniors” in golfing terms and able to turn their eye to the Legends Tour over the course of this calendar year.

We take a closer look at six of them.

Raphaël Jacquelin

The Frenchman, who turns 50 in May, won four times on the DP World Tour – most recently the 2013 Open de Espana where he beat Max Kieffer in a nine-hole play-off.

His previous three wins came in Sicily, Asia and Madrid.

David Lynn

David turned 50 in October 2023.

The Englishman won twice on the DP World Tour, the KLM Open in 2004 and then the Portugal Masters nine years later.

He was runner-up to Rory McIlroy in the 2012 US PGA Championship.

Peter Lawrie

Peter played more than 400 times on the DP World Tour, winning once and being named Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year in 2013 – he turns 50 in March

He came close to more titles but would be on the wrong end of three championship play-off’s.

Robert-Jan Derksen

Robert is a two-time winner on the DP World Tour who turned 50 on New Year’s Day 2024.

The Dutch player appeared in 394 DP World Tour events, getting a big breakthrough when he won the Dubai Desert Classic in 2003 one shot ahead of Ernie Els.

Brian Davis

He played in over 200 times on the DP World Tour and nearly 400 on the PGA Tour.
