The Argentinian carded another six under par round of 66, adding to his overnight total to reach 12 under par and move clear of Spaniard José Manuel Carriles, who posted an eight under par round of 64 at Golf Club Murhof, Murhof Gruppe.
Accuracy off the tee has been vital to the 54-year-old keeping bogeys off the card for the second consecutive day and he will look to keep his concentration levels in check to bring that momentum into tomorrow’s final round.
“I played very well today,” Molina said. “Keeping my concentration throughout my rounds yesterday and today has been key and I have managed to keep my driver in the fairways. My approach play is good, and my putter has been very kind to me all week.
“It feels great to be at the top. It will be my first time in the final group on the Legends Tour and tomorrow I will try to play well for a win because my confidence is high.”
Molina drew similarities between Golf Club Murhof, Murhof Gruppe and his home course in Argentina, and he will be looking to use home comfort to his advantage tomorrow as he goes in search of a maiden Legends Tour victory.
“The course is very good,” he said. “It’s similar to my home course because it is short, but you have to be good with the driver due to the number of trees.
“I would love to win tomorrow and then say a big thank you to everyone in the Legends Tour organisation, Murhof Golf Club and the promoter. We are treated so well and this tournament is important to the Tour.”
Defending champion José Coceres sits in a share of third with home favourite Markus Brier, three-time European Tour winner Peter Baker and overnight co-leader Thomas Gögele on eight under par.
Two-time Legends Tour winner Gary Orr and Englishman David Shacklady sit in seventh place on seven under par.
The final round of the Riegler & Partner Legends will begin at 8:30am local time on Sunday October 10, with Molina, Carilles and Coceres forming the final group at 10:10am.
